- Functional analysis of one candidate gene, ZmVATE, in regulation of maize PH development using an ethyl methane sulfonate (EMS) mutation further confirmed the power of the prediction provided in this research.
- The i-MPAR value was lower in the ZmVATE mutants than in B73 WT plants, demonstrating a critical role for ZmVATE in regulation of the i-trait MPAR.
- These results demonstrate the essential roles of ZmVATE in regulating plant architecture-related traits and the predictive power of potential key genes identified in our analysis for ideal plant architecture breeding in maize.
