  • Two important TFs, ZmABI7 and ZmMYB117, which regulate the cell cycle and cell wall modification by directly binding to the promoters of their target genes ZmCYC1, ZmCYC3, ZmCYC7, and ZmCPP1.
  • GRN analysis showed that ZmMYB117 affected the expression of a large number of genes related the cell cycle and the cell wall, such as ZmCYCs and ZmCMU2, thereby regulating internode elongation.
  • ZmABI7 and ZmMYB117, and their regulatory networks might also play important roles in the process of internode elongation, although their exact roles remain to be determined.
