- Ig3 mutant produce extra polar nuclei but through defects in embryo sac cellularization rather than through an excess of free nuclear divisions.
- Consistent with the seed development after pollination of ig2 and Ig3 mutants with tetraploid males, both mutants can have extra polar nuclei.
- Ig3 mutant embryo sacs often have abnormal antipodal cell clusters. The antipodal cells can be fewer in number or absent.
