CDF4 is member of the group II DOF transcription factor family is involved in regulation of differentiation root columella cells. It is a direct target of the transcriptional repressor WOX5. CDF4 itself is a transcriptional repressor that appears to repress root columella stem cell identity. Ectopic expression of CDF leads to premature differentiation of root columella cells.
