Functional Descriptions
- The GmMYBA2 TF was also validated to activate GmTT8a and GmMYBR, which might be part of the regulatory network to fine-tune soybean seed coat coloration.
- Molecular and biochemical analysis showed that GmMYBA2 interacted with GmTT8a to directly activate anthocyanin biosynthetic genes.
- Both GmTT8a and GmMYBR that were activated by GmMYBA2 in turn enhanced and obstructed the formation of the GmMYBA2–GmTT8a module, respectively.
- The GmMYBA2–GmTT8a complex could greatly activate the expression of anthocyanin biosynthetic genes (ABGs) in other seed coat color loci, whereas GmMYBR restricted the gene expression by either titrating GmTT8a or transforming the activation complex into a repression complex.
- GmMYBR could bind to the positive GmMYBA2–GmTT8a complex by interacting with GmTT8a to repress target gene expression instead of binding directly to the promoter of ABGs.
