- Soybean seedlings overexpressing GmNHX5 also showed an increased expression of GmSOS1, GmSKOR, and GmHKT1, higher K+/Na+ ratio, and higher viability when exposed to salt stress.
- These signals may further act on transcription factors in the nucleus and regulate the expression of salt-responsive genes such as GmSKOR, GmSOS1, GmHKT1, and GmNHX1, and induce the contents of free proline and betaine, to combat ROS burst and organelle damage caused by salt stress.
