- OLEA9 may participate in a new desaturation pathway that plays a role in subtly fine-tuning fatty acids. Although the candidate gene was annotated as encoding a metal ion-binding protein, little is known about the relationship between fatty acid synthesis and the function of metal ion-binding proteins.
- Identified a novel QTL (OLEA9) for C18:1 content in B. napus that further increased the C18:1 content by approximately 3%.
- OLEA9 increases oleic content additively with the BnaFad2.a locus.
