Gene Details:

  • Gene ID: Ma02_p05740
  • Gene Symbol: MaRZF1
  • Gene Name: RING Zinc Finger 1
  • Genome:
  • Species: Musa acuminata

Functional Descriptions:

  • RING-type ubiquitin E3 ligase MaRZF1 interacts with chlorophyll catabolic enzyme MaSGR1, which promotes the ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation of MaSGR1, causing the green ripening of banana fruit under high temperature.
  • These findings unravel an important novel regulatory cascade involving the MaRZF1-MaSGR1 complex that modulates high temperature-repressed chlorophyll degradation, explaining the green ripening banana phenomenon that occurred under high-temperature conditions, as well as enriching regulatory effects understanding of posttranslational modifications in temperature stress-caused fruit colour quality deterioration.
  • In contrast with the decrease in the MaSGR1 protein level, MaRZF1 protein level was noticeably increased in the anti-MaSGR1 antibody immunoprecipitated complex in fruits at 30°C compared with fruits at 20°C. These results suggest that high temperature induced ubiquitination of MaSGR1 and MaRZF1 may participate in this process.
